Master of Ceremonies & Guest Speaker: Joseph Syrette
Joseph Syrette is an Anishinaabe Ojibwe from Batchewana First Nation located in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario Canada. He currently lives in Mt Pleasant Michigan with his Family.
Joseph has been conducting various ceremonies for the past 25 years and practices Ninaadiwe’iwejig (Traditional Healing) using medicines to help re-balance and heal sicknesses through prayer using ojibwe doctoring methods to heal the mind, body and spirit. Joseph follows the practices the ways of his mentors and elders that went before him.
Joseph is also the Head Singer/Drum Keeper for the group Bear Creek. In 2011 the group Bear Creek was Grammy Nominated for Best Native American Music Album at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. Bear Creek has recently won this years 2026 Juno Award for best Traditional Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year. Joseph has been singing and dancing for past 35 years and still continues to share his achievements with his Family and fellow Anishinaabeg. He promotes sobriety, healthy living and cultural identity with communities all across North America.
