Water and Wastewater Treatment Department
The Water and Wastewater Treatment Department has 6 employees.
The Water Treatment Plant is a communal microfiltration water treatment plant that has water supplied from Smith Bay. The water is conveyed from the bay through the intake piping to a low lift station and then pumped into the water treatment plant for processing. High lift pumps would then supply the communities in-ground reservoir, elevated water storage reservoir, community distribution system and to the water truck filling station.
Wastewater treatment is a process which removes and eliminates contaminants from wastewater. It thus converts it into an effluent that can be returned to the water cycle. Once back in the water cycle, the effluent creates an acceptable impact on the environment.
