Prayer Walk overview:

·       Friday, June 20, 2025

·       Starts and ends at border

·       7am Pipe Ceremony and opening prayers and song, light the original smudge

·       every walker will be provided a red cloth for their identification and protection

·       immediately following opening prayers and song walkers will volunteer to complete sections of the community so that all homes receive prayers

·       there are 11+ sections to be completed, from border to intown, and all satellite communities: Prairie Point/Rabbit Island, Cape Smith, Murray Hill, Kaboni, Wiikwemkoongsing, Dooganing; covering 120km+ of roadways

·       we need 2+ volunteers to lead each section: minimum one male and one female—male staff carrier and female medicine carrier per walking group

·       walkers assist each other to keep medicine lit for duration of the walk, and take turns leading acting as the carriers

·       volunteer drivers are needed to follow groups in their sections, for safety; and to drive to rural areas

·       ideally one first aider in each group

·       everyone is invited to participate

·       lunch provided

·       closing feast provided

·       medicines are provided

·       red cloth is provided

 

Prep needs:

·       requesting donations of cedar picked by women—bring to WHO office or to event on Friday June 20

·       requesting donations of water and snacks for walkers

 

Walkers, bring:

comfortable footwear

reusable water bottles and preferred snacks

walk is rain or shine: be prepared for weather

comfort items: sunscreen, bug spray, hat, work gloves when carrying smudge can
