Community Wellness Coordinator
Wiikwemkoong Child and Family Services is seeking qualified individual to fill the position of Community Wellness Coordinator. Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory (WUT) Child and Family Services oversees and advocates for child and family matters by following the principals and ethics of Wiikwemkoong’s Gchi Naaknigewin, Wiikwemkoong’s Children’s Bill of Rights and Wiikwemkoong Community Standards. This will ensure the services are culturally appropriate to support the community’s children and families in alignment with Anishnaabe values and practices. The Community Wellness Coordinator will report directly to the Cultural Services – Team Leader.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of culturally grounded community gatherings that promote wellness, cultural identity, family strengthening, and prevention
· Uphold cultural protocols by engaging Elders and Knowledge Keepers and ensuring gatherings are culturally safe and respectful
· Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, families, youth, Elders, and community partners
· Collaborate closely with Child and Family Services Prevention staff and other Wiikwemkoong departments to co-manage gatherings
· Develop annual work plans and program descriptions aligned with Prevention Services mandates
· Coordinate gathering logistics, including venues, transportation, food, supplies, and cultural supports
· Manage program budgets, track expenditures, and ensure activities remain within approved funding
· Collect participant feedback and evaluation data to support continuous improvement
· Accurately document services, statistics, and financial information using the Case Works management system
· Prepare and submit quarterly reports outlining activities, outcomes, and progress toward work plans
REQUIREMENTS
· Diploma or degree in Social Services, Indigenous Studies, Community Development, Child & Youth Work, or a related field
· Experience coordinating community programs, gatherings, or prevention-based services
· Strong knowledge of Anishinaabe culture, community values, and culturally grounded practices
· Understanding of primary and secondary prevention in child and family wellbeing
· Excellent planning, coordination, and organizational skills
· Ability to work respectfully with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, children, youth, and families
· Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
· Proficiency with computer systems and case management platforms (e.g., Case Works)
· Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and be flexible to work evenings and/or weekends.
Salary: $83,851 Location: On-Site Wiikwemkoong
