The Wiikwemkoong Housing Department is seeking (10) Labourers. Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory (WUT), following the principals and ethics of Wiikwemkoong’s Gchi Naaknigewin, Wiikwemkoong’s Children’s Bill of Rights and Wiikwemkoong Community Standards, is seeking motivated and reliable individuals to support residential construction and home repair projects within the community. Labourers are responsible are responsible for assisting with residential construction, renovation, and repair projects while ensuring safe, efficient, and quality workmanship that contributes to improving housing conditions within the community.

The Housing Labourer will report to the Housing Construction Supervisor and work under the direct supervision of their Crew Leader.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Follow all safety protocols and always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with handling, transporting, and installing building materials.
• Assist with installation of footings, ICF foundations, subfloors, framing, trusses, roofing, windows, doors, insulation, drywall, trim, painting, and finishing work.
• Maintain clean and safe construction sites by removing debris and hazards.
• Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.
• Communicate effectively with Crew Leaders and team members regarding construction processes and safety concerns.
• Support all construction activities assigned by the Crew Leader.
• Attend and participate in required training opportunities, including workplace safety training such as Working at Heights.

REQUIREMENTS
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Experience in construction, renovations, general labour, or related work is considered an asset.
• Knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of Anishinaabe culture, community values, and workplace safety practices. Basic understanding of construction principles and use of power tools is beneficial.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to follow instructions, teamwork, reliability, punctuality, and ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
• Any preferred qualifications: Experience working in residential construction or home repair projects. Willingness to attend training and obtain safety certifications.
• Other: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Reliable transportation to travel to various job sites is preferred.

Salary: Grade 4 Step 1 $ 49,730.00 to Grade 5 Step 1 $ 59,916.00.
