Database Architect

Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Architect to
design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure database systems. The ideal candidate
will play a crucial role in ensuring data integrity, optimizing database performance, and supporting
business applications across the organization. The Database Architect will report directly to the IST
Department Chief Technology Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and implement logical and physical database models.
• Develop and enforce database standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Optimize database performance, availability, and scalability.
• Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with regulations.
• Manage security, access control, and user authentication.
• Oversee data migration, integration, and transformation processes.
• Respond to outages and troubleshoot critical database issues.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to database teams.

REQUIREMENTS

•  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in database architecture, data engineering, or related roles.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, cloud platforms, and data security.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advocate for technical solutions.
• Adaptability and flexibility in responding to changing organizational needs.
• Operational understanding of Anishinaabemowin is an asset.

Salary: $92,981

Location: On-site only; remote hires are not accepted.
